There are so much to know about alcohol, but let’s tackle those alcohol facts that affect our life, health and society. Alcohol has been part of human civilization for thousands of years; it plays an important part in celebrations, gatherings, tribunals, rituals and social events. Alcohol is a beverage consumed by more than two billion people across the globe. It has an intoxicating effect that often makes individuals relax, loosen up and boost in confidence.

It has a wide variety of choices, colors and taste; and each kind has different levels of alcohol content. Coupled with these, are varying types of effect among human beings.

Alcohol is healthy. Yes, it is healthy only in moderation. Studies showed that alcohol has been beneficial to health. One benefit of alcohol is relaxation, with the pressures brought by the modern world, people tend to carry problems more than what they can bear, alcohol helps them unwind and loosen up. In the process, the system gets rid of stress causing healthy bodily processes. It also has certain chemical compositions favourable to cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and dementia.

Excessive intake can have psychological and physical effects. It can impair focus and concentration for instance, making driving perilous and work unproductive. It affects behaviour and perception making it difficult to deal with intoxicated individuals. Alcohol puts a risk to pregnancy and can be damaging to the developing fetus.

Alcohol can lead to addiction. In the process, it leads to personal and social problems. There’s a stigma to addiction and therefore societal acceptance is a struggle. Families, friends and people around you will be having trouble dealing and interacting with you and your habit.

Because of various drawbacks, drinking alcohol in moderation is considered and concluding such vice is even encouraged, especially to heavy and intense drinkers. With thee however comes alcohol withdrawal symptoms, which causes reverse effects of what alcohol has in the body.

Alcohol is indeed everywhere, you know one and you know all, they taste different yet their effects are the same. Good or bad, in alcohol consumption, one should consider taking the next step to responsibility, that is-knowing what is overtly too much and stop when so needed.
